Coach Moran Announces 2018 UMBC Men's Lacrosse Schedule; Hopkins Game Moved to Homewood on March 13

2018 UMBC Schedule

UMBC head men's lacrosse coach Ryan Moran announced the team's 2018 spring schedule in early December. The Retrievers play six of 13 games at UMBC Stadium, including first-time visitor Michigan and No. 4 pre-season and defending America East champion Albany.

"Our program is excited to compete against a highly-competitive non-conference slate of opponents, four of which competed in their conference tournaments last year," said Moran. "We are especially excited to be able to add a program like Navy to the schedule."

The Retrievers open the 2018 slate at home, when they welcome the Richmond Spiders on Saturday, Feb. 10 at noon. UMBC travels for the next three games, but never leaves the state, playing at Navy (Feb. 17), Mount St. Mary's (Feb. 23) and Towson (March 3).

UMBC returns home to host Marist on Saturday, March 10, before taking on Johns Hopkins on Tuesday evening, March 13. That game, originally schedule at home, will now be played at JHU's Homewood Field at 7:00 p.m. A concert will occur at UMBC's new Event Center on the 13th which necessitated the change in venue.

The Retrievers open America East Conference play on Sunday, March 18, when Stony Brook invades UMBC Stadium and concludes the month versus the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday, March 24.

Moran's charges play the final five games versus America East competition, starting with a road trip to UMass Lowell on Saturday, March 31. The Retrievers then welcome defending America East champion Albany the following Saturday, April 7. UMBC plays two of its final three games on the road, as Senior Day versus Hartford on Saturday, April 21 is sandwiched by contests at Binghamton (Sat., April 14) and the season finale at Vermont (Friday, April 27).

The four-team America East Tournament will be played at the site of the regular season champion on Thursday, May 3 and Saturday, May 5.

"Every team in the America East Conference has tremendous coaches and players, which makes every week during conference play exciting to prepare for and compete against," said Moran. "We are working towards building upon some of the success and improvement we had last year.  We believe this schedule is going to provide us the opportunity to make some of those strides."
