Men's Lacrosse Announces 2015 Schedule
BALTIMORE - UMBC Head Lacrosse Coach Don Zimmerman announced the Retrievers’ 2015 spring schedule today, which features an early four-game road swing and six home contests in a six-week period as the weather warms into the spring. UMBC will open the campaign on Saturday, February 7, its earliest opener ever, at Johns Hopkins University with a 1:00 p.m. face-off.

Gregoire Finishes Tied for Second in the Nation in Goal-Scoring; Retrievers Place Ninth in Goals Per Game
BALTIMORE – UMBC All-American attackman Matt Gregoire (Crofton, Md./South River) finished tied for second in the nation in goal scoring, according to the final 2014 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Division I statistics, which were released on May 27. Moreover, the Retrievers posted their second-best scoring average since 1998, averaging 12.2 goals per game, the ninth-best figure in Division I

Matt Gregoire Named USILA All-American
Perry, N.Y. – UMBC attackman Matt Gregoire (Crofton, Md./South River) was selected as a 2014 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-American, as the teams were announced today. The attackman earned honorable mention honors after setting a UMBC single-season goals record with 48 scored in his senior campaign.

Zach Linkous Tabbed to Compete in USILA/Lax World North-South DI-II Game
Perry, N.Y. – UMBC midfielder Zach Linkous (Jarrettsville, Md./St. Paul’s) has been selected to compete in the 2014 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/Lax World North-South Division I-II College All-Star game. The game will be played on Monday, May 26 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md. at 10:00 a.m., just prior to the NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse national championship game.

Men's Lacrosse Falls to Albany in AE Title Contest
Stony Brook, N.Y.- A torrid Albany team broke up a tight game with an eight-goal third quarter and defended their America East title, defeating UMBC, 20-11 in the league’s championship game. UMBC senior attackman Matt Gregoire (Crofton, Md./South River) scored three goals and became the Retrievers’ single season record-holder in goals with 47. Gregoire, face-off specialist Phil Poe and sophomore defender Zach Esser (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) were named to the All-Championship team.

Men's Lacrosse To Face Albany For AE Title on Saturday Morning
For the second consecutive year, the UMBC men’s lacrosse team (8-6) will take on top-seeded Albany (10-5) for the America East Conference men’s lacrosse championship when the two rivals take the field at Stony Brook University’s La Valle Stadium on Saturday, May 3. The Retrievers advanced with a 16-10 semifinal win over No. 2 Binghamton in Thursday’s opener, while Albany needed overtime to subdue host No. 4 Stony Brook, 17-16, in the nightcap. The opening face-off is set for 10:00 a.m., with ESPNU providing live coverage. Mark Dixon and Paul Carcaterra handle the play-by-play and color responsibilities. Men's Lacrosse Advances to AE Title Game With 16-10 Victory Over Binghamton
Stony Brook, N.Y.- UMBC senior face-off specialist Phil Poe (Harwood, Md./DeMatha) set an America East Tournament record by winning 24 (of 30) face-offs and attackmen Matt Gregoire (Crofton ,Md./South River) and Max Maxwell (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) combined for 13 points as the third-seeded Retrievers defeated No. 2 Binghamton, 16-10, in the league semifinals.

Burlington, Vt. – UMBC outscored Vermont, 10-0, in the second quarter and three Retrievers etched themselves in the record books as UMBC defeated the Catamounts, 17-14, at Virtue Field in the regular season finale for both squads. The Retrievers complete the regular season at 7-6 overall and 3-2 in America East play.

Men's Lacrosse Concludes Regular Season at Vermont Saturday
The UMBC men’s lacrosse team concludes the regular season as the Retrievers travel to Burlington, Vt. to take on the Vermont Catamounts in an America East match-up at Virtue Field. The Retrievers (6-6, 2-2 AE) have wrapped up the No. 3 seed in next week’s America East Tournament, reaching their 11th consecutive tournament in 11 years of competition. The Catamounts (5-7. 0-4 AE), who started the campaign at 5-3, have dropped four straight and have been eliminated from the post-season. The opening face-off is set for 1:30 p.m.

Poe, Lewnes Shine, But Men's Lacrosse Edged, 18-14, by Albany
BALTIMORE – The UMBC men’s lacrosse team gave defending America East champion quite a battle, but the Retrievers lost a 18-14 shootout to the Albany Great Danes before 1,449 fans on “Senior Day” at UMBC Stadium. UMBC senior face-off specialist Phil Poe (Harwood, Md./DeMatha) tied his own school record, by winning 23 (of 35) face-offs in the contest. Poe also collected 15 ground balls and raised his career total to 303, third-most in school history.

Second-Half Surge Pushes Binghamton Past Men's Lacrosse
Vestal, N.Y. – UMBC held a 6-4 halftime lead, but the host Binghamton Bearcats outscored the Retrievers, 9-1, in the second half and earned a 13-7 America East Conference victory at the Bearcats Sports Complex. UMBC had its two-game winning streak snapped and fell to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in league play, while Binghamton improved to 4-6, 2-0.

Connor Gordon Named AE Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
Cambridge, Mass. - UMBC red-shirt freshman goalkeeper Connor Gordon (Bourne, Mass./Tabor Academy) has been named America East Conference Men’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for games ending March 29, the league office announced today. Gordon fell one save shy of his season high, making 15 stops against Stony Brook as the Retrievers prevailed, 12-11, in overtime.

Towson, Md. – For the second time in four days, the UMBC men’s lacrosse team dropped a two-goal decision on the road, falling, 10-8, to Towson at chilly Unitas Stadium. UMBC sophomore midfielder Jack Gannon (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) led the visitors with three goals and senior attackman Matt Gregoire (Crofton, Md./South River) added his 19th and 20th goals of the season. The three-goal effort was the first of Gannon’s career.

Third-Quarter Blitz Leads Men's Lacrosse to 15-6 Triumph Over Mercer
BALTIMORE – UMBC outscored visiting Mercer, 7-0, in the third quarter and the Retrievers went on to defeat the Bears, 15-6, at UMBC Stadium. Five Retrievers posted three or more points – led by four points on two goals and two assists by sophomore midfielder Jack Gannon. Attackman Matt Gregoire was the lone UMBC player to tally three goals and the senior continues to lead the squad with 13 scores in five games.
