Ethan Murphy Selected to Play in USILA/LAXWORLD North-South Division I/II Contest

Perry, N.Y.- UMBC senior defender Ethan Murphy (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca East) has been selected to compete in the USILA/LAXWORLD North-South Division I/II game, it was announced by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association on May 22.

The contest will be held at Edith Robb Dixon Field on the campus of Cabrini College in Radnor, Pa., on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 5:30 p.m.

Murphy is a four-year letterwinner and two-time team captain who saw action at close defense and long-stick defensive midfield in 45 career contests.

The political science major earned America East Conference All-Academic Team honors in both 2012 and 2013. Murphy possesses a grade-point average of 3.78.

He finished second on the 2013 squad in ground balls (52, a single-season personal high) and caused turnovers (16) and completed his tenure with 117 ground balls. Murphy added a pair of goals in his final campaign and recorded four scores and three assists from his defensive position.

Murphy becomes the 38th Retriever to compete in the contest in UMBC's 33 years of NCAA Division I competition.
