RETRIEVER LACROSSE RISES IN THE POLLS; FLANAGAN, GERBER EARN ECAC HONORS

With a pair of wins over Top Ten teams this week, the UMBC men's lacrosse team has risen to #9 in three national lacrosse polls this week. The Retrievers were ranked in the ninth spot in the Inside Lacrosse poll, The Baltimore Sun/Channel 2 poll, and the laxpower.com poll. UMBC is ranked tenth in The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll. Senior goalkeeper Tim Flanagan was named ECAC Defensive Player of the Week and senior attackman Josh Gerber was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week for back-to-back outstanding performances. Flanagan made 15 saves in the 10-9 win at Towson and turned aside a season-high 19 UNC shots in the Retrievers' 10-8 win on Saturday. Gerber scored the game-winning goals in each game, totalling six goals and one assist for the week. UMBC plays its fourth game in eleven days when they travel to Annapolis to take on Navy on Tuesday evening.
