Camardo, Wimer Nominated for America East Men’s Lacrosse Fans’ Choice Player of the Year

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—UMBC seniors Mike Camardo (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland) and Kyle Wimer (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) are among the 12 nominees for the 2010 America East Men’s Lacrosse Fans’ Choice Player of the Year.

     

    Camardo, a long-stick midfielder, ranks second in the nation with 3.2 caused turnovers per game, and he also leads the Retrievers with 38 ground balls on the season. The team captain was the Most Outstanding Player of the 2009 America East Championship after earning All-Conference Second-Team honors in 2008.

     

    Wimer leads the Retrievers with 30 points on 12 goals and a team-best 18 assists, ranking fourth in the conference with 1.8 helpers per game. The midfielder and team captain was an Inside Lacrosse Preseason First-Team All-American after earning an honorable mention nod in 2009, and he was recently named one of 10 finalists for the prestigious Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. Wimer was also tabbed to the America East All-Conference First Team last season.

     

    Voting for the America East Men’s Lacrosse Fans’ Choice Player of the Year runs through the end of the day on Wednesday, April 28.
