Men's Lacrosse Sweeps America East Weekly Honors; Poillon and Radebaugh Earn Player, Rookie of the Week Awards
Peet Poillon earned his second Player of the Week honors this season.
The sixth-ranked UMBC men’s lacrosse team swept America East Conference honors this week as senior midfielder Peet Poillon (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley/Ohio State) and freshman face-off specialist Justin Radebaugh (Lutherville, Md./Boys’ Latin) were named the league’s Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week respectively.
Both players performed critical roles in the Retrievers’ 15-7 win at Albany on Saturday. Poillon scored three of his game-high four goals in the first quarter as UMBC (9-2.3-0) triumphed in the battle for first place in the conference. The four goals tied a season/career high, which he achieved for the third time this season. Poillon leads the team with 38 points on 21 goals and 17 assists and also recorded his 50th career goal (now 53) in 28 career games.
Radebaugh won a season high 16 (of 24) face offs in the win over the Great Danes. He collected a team season-high 10 ground balls and recorded his first career point, an assist, in the third quarter. Radebaugh has won 30 of 45 draws (66.7%) in the last two wins over Binghamton and Albany.
UMBC travels to Harford for a April 18 game with the Hawks and would sew up a No. 1 seed in the America East Tournament with a victory.
