Men's Lacrosse to Host Towson Tigers on Tuesday Evening

3/31/2009

  • Towson at UMBC ('09)

The sixth-ranked UMBC men’s lacrosse team (6-2) meets a surging Towson Tiger (4-4) squad in the Retrievers’ final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday, March 31 at UMBC Stadium. Opening face off is set for 7:35 p.m. The game can be heard on Fox 1370 Sports Radio (Gary Stein, Kevin O'Neill) and is available via live streaming at www.umbctrievers.tv.

This will be the 40th meeting between the beltway rivals. Towson leads the series, 26-13, but UMBC has won the last two games and the series is split at 6-6 since 1997.

Both teams enter the contest with three-game winning streaks. UMBC outlasted Stony Brook, 14-8, in New York on March 28 after nail-biting wins over Ohio State (9-8, ot) and Maryland (9-7) the previous two Saturdays. Towson’s four wins have all come by three goals or less and the Tigers will be playing their fourth game in the last 11 days on Tuesday. TU won at Drexel, 7-4 on Saturday, scoring the final six goals of the game in the final 24 minutes.
