Matt Latham Named America East Conference Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week

3/30/2009

Cambridge, Mass.--Junior attackman Matt Latham (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) was named America East Conference Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for games ending March 28, 2009.

Latham posted a season high with a four-point effort in Saturday’s 14-8 victory at Stony Brook. The 2008 Second Team America East All-Conference honoree has now scored six goals in the last two weeks and has seven goals in the last two meetings with the Seawolves. He was credited with the game-winning goal, an extra-man score in the third quarter, one of two man-up goals that he posted on the day. UMBC is 6-0 this season when Latham gets on the score sheet.

UMBC (6-2) entertains cross-town rival Towson (4-4) on Tuesday evening (7:30 p.m.) at UMBC Stadium. The Retrievers are now ranked No. 6 in both the USILA and Nike/Inside Lacrosse polls. Both teams bring three-game winning streaks into the 40th contest between the two schools.
