Terry Kimener Selected Eighth Overall in Major League Lacrosse Draft by Chicago Machine

5/29/2008

Terry Kimener is the third Retriever ever taken in the MLL draft.

HOBOKEN, N.J.UMBC midfielder Terry Kimener (Oakton, Va.) was the eighth player selected in the Major League Lacrosse collegiate draft, held at Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday. Kimener was selected by the Chicago Machine in the first round.

Earlier this week, Kimener earned second-team All-America honors from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, the latest in a long list of accolades for the second-highest scoring midfielder in UMBC history. Kimener, who was an honorable mention All-American as a sophomore and junior, was also the 2008 America East Conference Player of the Year and Most Outstanding Player of the league championships. He was named Outstanding Senior Male Athlete at UMBC’s varsity awards banquet in early May, and he competed in the North-South All-Star Classic last week.

Kimener finished his career with 71 goals and 63 assists for 134 points. He led the team with 48 points in 2008 as UMBC earned its third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and finished with a No. 6 ranking by the USILA, the highest in school history.

Kimener is the third Retriever ever taken in the MLL draft, joining Brendan Mundorf (2006) and Drew Westervelt (2007), who were both chosen by the Denver Outlaws.
