Future Retriever Robert Grimm to Compete in Prestigious Under Armour All America Lacrosse Game
UMBC prospective student-athlete Robert Grimm (Black River, N.Y.) has been named to the North squad of the 2008 Under Armour All America lacrosse game. The third annual game will take place on Sat., July 12 at Johnny Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson University.
The Carthage High School midfielder just became the third Comets' lacrosse player to earn high school All-American honors in consecutive seasons. Grimm, who currently has 56 goals and 59 assists this season, was a unanimous Section 3 All-American selection this season. He joins Casey Powell (1993-94) and Josh Coffman (1996-97) as Carthage repeat picks.
Grimm, who signed a national letter-of-intent to attend UMBC last fall, is one of 44 seniors chosen nationwide to compete in the game and he will also represent Section 3 at the U.S. Lacrosse Showcase in Detroit, Mich.
Carthage earned the second seed in Class B to lead the six-team Frontier League contingent into the 2008 Section 3 boys’ lacrosse tournament. The Comets (16-2) received a bye into the semifinals, where they will play the No. 5 Whitesboro/No. 4 Cortland winner at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 1 at Coyne Field in Syracuse.
