Men's Lacrosse Faces America East Showdown With Albany at UMBC Stadium Saturday Evening; Contest to Benefit Lacrosse for Autism

    The ninth-ranked UMBC men’s lacrosse team will host America East rival Albany at UMBC Stadium in a key conference contest this Sat., April 12 at 7:30 p.m.

     

    The contest is sponsored by Lacrosse for Autism with portions of the ticket proceeds benefiting Baltimore’s Kennedy Krieger Institute. Along with the proceeds, Lacrosse for Autism will help raise awareness about autism and provide spectators with information about the disorder and the Kennedy Krieger Institute, an internationally recognized facility which is dedicated to improving the lives of children and adolescents with pediatric developmental disabilities through patient care, special education, research and professional training.

    The game will feature a pair of fierce rivals who have won the last two America East Conference titles and both advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals last season. UMBC, (7-3, 2-0 America East) which won the league’s automatic bid in 2006, (7-3) has won six straight games entering the evening contest. Albany (5-5, 2-0), which nipped the Retrievers, 15-14 in last season’s league titlegame to claim the conference tournament crown, is on a five-game winning streak after a 15-4 victory over Yale on Tuesday.

     

    UMBC leads the all-time series, 4-3 with five of the seven games being decided by a single goal. The game will also be available on WVIE, 1370 AM or www.v1370.com.
