UMBC's Terry Kimener Earns Second America East Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week Award This Season

4/7/2008

For the second time this season, UMBC senior midfielder Terry Kimener has been named America East Conference men’s lacrosse Player of the Week.

Kimener registered hat tricks in both of UMBC’s road victories this week as the Retrievers edged Towson, 9-6 on April 1 and doubled up Binghamton, 10-5 on Saturday.  It was the second and third three-plus goal games of the season for Kimener and the eighth and ninth of his career. The two-time All American scored all three goals in the fourth quarter at Binghamton after the Bearcats had cut UMBC’s lead to 6-4 after three quarters.

He has now amassed 118 career points, tied for 18th on UMBC’s all-time scoring list and he has tied Scott Edmonds (’75) as the second-most productive midfielder in school history. Jamie Batley (’94) is the all-time leading scorer at midfield for UMBC with 158 points.

Kimener also won the award on March 10, as Retriever players have earned the conference’s top weekly honor in five of the last six weeks. UMBC has won six straight games and is now ranked No. 9 in the latest USILA coaches’ poll and No. 11 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse media poll.

UMBC will host America East rival Albany at UMBC Stadium in a key conference contest this Sat., April 12 at 7:30 p.m.
