Men's Lacrosse to Open vs. Brown on Feb. 24; Earlier Date with Butler Cancelled

The UMBC men’s lacrosse team will open its 2007 schedule vs. Brown University on Sat., Feb. 24 UMBC Stadium. The opening face-off is set for 1:00 p.m.

UMBC’s previously schedule opener vs. Butler University, slated for Feb. 17 has been cancelled. Last month, Butler dropped its men’s lacrosse program, effective June 1, 2007, but the team’s players decided not to compete this spring after a meeting on Jan. 31.

The Retrievers, the defending America East Conference champions, will compete in a scrimmage at Villanova University on Sat., Feb. 10 at noon. 

UMBC won a hard-fought 6-4 victory over Brown in the opener for both teams in Providence, R.I., last season.
