UMBC MEN’S LACROSSE TO BE FEATURED ON FOX SPORTS NET’S "NCAA ON CAMPUS"

Baltimore, MD—The UMBC men’s lacrosse team’s long-standing community service relationship with “The Ride With Pride” program will be featured on this month’s edition of NCAA On Campus. Produced by Fox Sports News, the show airs locally on Comcast SportsNet (Mid-Atlantic) this Saturday, April 17 at 6:00 p.m., and Sunday, April 18th at 11:30 p.m.   

 

UMBC men’s lacrosse just celebrated its tenth anniversary with “The Ride With Pride” program, sponsored by the Maryland Council for Special Equestrians.  The team assists trainers in horseback riding activities for special needs children at the Patapsco Horse Center in Ellicott City, Maryland. Head Coach Don Zimmerman, seniors Jeff Clark, Matt Gallagher, and Tommy Tittsworth , and junior Joe Cahill are active participants in the program and are featured along with program director Tina Wehland and some very special young people.

 

The lacrosse team was awarded the 2000 “Volunteer of the Year” award by the Maryland Recreation and Parks Association for its work with this program.

 

Tittsworth, from Mount Hebron HS in Ellicott City, is UMBC’s Coca-Cola Community All American nominee for his excellence in community service. In addition to his work with “The Ride With Pride” program, Tommy has volunteered over 250 hours to mentoring middle school students, coaching in the Howard County Heroes Lacrosse League, and assisting firefighters at the Elkridge Fire House.

 

Comcast SportsNet reporter Sage Steele co-hosts the program, that will also feature some familiar student-athletes and scenes from campus.
