MEN'S LACROSSE OVERWHELMS HARTFORD, 14-4, IN AMERICA EAST DEBUT

Baltimore, MD—UMBC made its debut in America East lacrosse a successful one, as the Retrievers (2-1, 1-0 America East) dominated time of possession, and cruised to a 14-4 win over visiting Hartford (0-4, 0-1) before 556 chilled fans at UMBC Stadium.
Senior face off specialist Pat Muston continued his dominant play, as he controlled 7 of 8 first half draws and UMBC slowly built a 5-1 halftime lead. Retriever attackman Andy Gallagher (4:51) and midfielder Franklin Berry (3:46) scored late in the first quarter, and after Hartford’s Josh Wasson-McQuigge cut the lead in half with 2:20 in the stanza, Berry scored two of UMBC’s three second quarter goals.
Sophomore attackman Brendan Mundorf netted three straight goals to open the third quarter, and jujnior midfielder Jeff Rominski and freshman attackman Drew Westervelt helped build the lead to 10-1 early in the fourth quarter.
Rominski, a transfer from Essex CC, led all scorers with five points (2 goals, 3 assists), while
Muston won 14 of 19 draws and has now captured 46 of 60 this season.
