MEN'S LACROSSE NAMES TRI-CAPTAINS FOR 2004 CAMPAIGN

The UMBC men’s lacrosse has selected seniors Franklin Berry, Jeff Clark, and Matt Gallagher as its tri-captains for the 2004 season.

 

Berry, a 5’9”, 165-lb. midfielder from Ellicott City, MD (Mt. Hebron HS), has earned three letters and competed in all 37 games in his tenure. A member of the 2002 ECAC All Academic Team, Berry produced a career best 12 goals and 5 assists in 2003, and has amassed 21 career goals and 11 assists. Berry is majoring in Computer Science.

 

Clark, a 6’0”, 200-lb.defender from Centreville, MD (Queen Anne’s HS), has also earned three letters and appeared in all 37 games in his career. He became a starter on close defense in 2003, after serving primary on the man-down unit in his first two seasons. Clark,a Geography major, garnered a career-high 17 ground balls last year and caused 5 opponent turnovers.

 

Gallagher, a 5’6”, 165-lb. midfielder from Rockville, MD (DeMatha HS), has also been a valuable team member for three seasons. He was named the 2002 team Unsung Hero and was a member of UMBC’s face-off unit that controlled 53% of all draws last season. Gallagher, an Information Systems major, was third on last year’s squad with a career-best 23 ground balls and has 3 career goals and an assist in 31 games played.

 

The Retrievers will debut in the America East Conference this spring.
