AT UMBC: Was the opening day starter for UMBC on close defense vs. Navy, however he suffered a shoulder injury in that contest and missed the next three games...returned to compete in nine games on the season, starting a total of four...garnered eight ground balls and committed one penalty.
BACKGROUND: An All American at powerful Comsewogue, which has won the Suffolk Class B title for six consecutive years…led a 2001 defense that allowed a scant 4.6 goals per game…recorded 108 ground balls as a senior...named District Athlete of the Year and was an All County player for his final two seasons…was part of a state championship team as a freshman in 1998…also lettered in football, earning All Division honors in 1999 and 2000…converted from attack as a freshman for the Warriors…brings tremendous intensity to every practice and every game…attended UMBC for its “great coaching staff, excellent university, and high expectations”…son of Paula and Carl Bivona…born December 4, 1982.
