Background: Earned Severn School’s C. Markland Kelly award during his senior year…was also named to The Evening Capital’s Anne Arundel County (Second) team…served as the Admirals’ team captain as a senior and also captained the football team during the fall of 2004…earned all-conference honors as a linebacker and started on both offense and defense…Severn earned the MIAA “B” Conference title in the fall of 2003…a member of the National Honor Society…began playing lacrosse as a freshman in high school…chose UMBC because of its location and coaching staff…father, Dr. J. Kevin Eckert, is a professor of Sociology and Anthropology at UMBC and is the Dean of the new Erickson School of Aging Studies on campus…has a younger brother, Sam, 17…son of Ellen and Dr. J. Kevin Eckert…born December 28, 1986.
