2006: The CCBC-Essex transfer stepped right into the starting lineup and did start all 15 games on close defense… recorded 24 ground balls and three caused turnovers… posted an assist in the win over Stony Brook…is the lone starter to return to the close defense.

Background: Highly decorated player at the junior college and prep levels…captained the Essex Knights in both of his seasons and guided the team to a 19-0 record and a national title in his freshman campaign…earned All Maryland Junior College Regional All Tournament Team honors as a freshman and a sophomore and was a first team NJCAA All American as a sophomore…a first team All League and All County performer and Defensive Most Valuable Player at Rancho Bernadino HS…also gained over 1,000 yards as a running back for the Broncos in his senior campaign…did not compete in lacrosse until age 16…lists his greatest thrill in sports as creating the turnover and gaining the ground ball which led to the game-winning goal by Essex in the title game victory over Herkimer in 2004…is considering a major in Sociology…grandfather, and father, Les, competed in football at Kansas University…favorite professional team is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers…has an older sister, Breanne, 23…son of Deb and Les Begay…born December 4, 1984.
