Named team co-captain (along with Brendan Mundorf) for the 2006 campaign.

 

2005: Posted career high with 39 ground balls…was charged with only four turnovers, despite rarely leaving the field… started all 15 games for UMBC and has started all 29 over the past two campaigns…corralled four ground balls at Towson and tied career best with five vs. North Carolina.

 

2004: Recorded 30 ground balls in his 14 starts, and only committed 5 turnovers... the lone Retriever to start all 14 games on defense a season ago… corralled a season high 5 ground balls in the playoff-clinching win at Vermont...had 4 ground balls in two other America East games, at Binghamton and in the playoff game vs. Albany.

 

2003: Saw action in 9 games in his freshman campaign, mostly on man-down defense…displayed good overall athletic ability and played with poise, despite his newness to the game.

 

BACKGROUND: A Most Valuable Player, All-League performer and team captain of three teams during his prep tenure…earned those awards in lacrosse, ice hockey, and soccer…led the Salisbury School to its best ever lacrosse record of 13-2 in 2000 and was part of a state championship ice hockey squad…despite picking up a lacrosse stick seriously at age 16, he has excellent instincts for the game…enjoys carpentry…has three sisters, Nicole, 22, Brooke, 19, and Stephanie, 16…son of Denise and Paul Powell…majoring in Sociology…born November 16, 1984.
