Big, strong midfielder with a big-time shot and the ability to become a potent offensive weapon for the Retrievers…should remain a part of the man-up unit for the 2004 campaign.

 

AT UMBC: Tied for second on the squad with four man-up goals last season…scored his first collegiate goal in a man-up situation at Stony Brook…his first four goals of the season were all scored in man-up situations…tallied a season high 2 goals in 12-11 overtime loss at Rutgers…credited with the game-winning (9th) goal in the 13-8 win at Delaware.

 

BACKGROUND: Earned the C.Markland Kelly, Jr. Athletic Service Award in his last year at St. Mary's…scored three goals and added an assist in St. Mary's narrow victory over rival Severna Park…was a Baltimore Sun, Evening Capital, and Washington Post All County defender in football …also lettered in basketball as a freshman and sophomore for the Saints…selected UMBC over other area Division I schools because of "the coaching staff and the environment of the school"…lists favorite book as Don't Sweat the Small Stuff… a fan of the Dallas Cowboys…has a sister, Lisa, 38…son of Dianne and Paul Hyland…born May 26, 1984.
