The UMBC Retrievers return to the RAC Arena for a two-game Thanksgiving Week homestand, starting with a contest versus the Navy Midshipmen on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Tip-off time for the contest is 7:00 p.m.

UMBC Athletics is collecting canned goods to support the Southwestern Relief Thanksgiving Food Drive, so fans are encouraged to bring those items and drop off in the lobby of the RAC Arena.
RETRIEVER UPDATE: UMBC (1-4) picked up its first victory of the year, defeating host Northern Colorado, 81-72, in the opening round of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational Regional Games on Nov. 21. Cody Joyce scored a career-high 30 points to pace the Retrievers. UMBC could not capture the regional tournament title, as they were bested 19 hours later, 78-65, by a strong Cal Poly team. UMBC freshman wing Joe Sherburne led all scorers with 19 points in that contest.
In his return after missing the 2014-15 season due to injury, red-shirt sophomore guard Rodney Elliott leads UMBC with 15.4 points per game and has scored in double figures in all five contests. Sherburne leads the team in treys (2.8 per game, fourth in America East) and steals (2.0 pg, third in AE) and is second on the squad at 13.0 points per game, while Joyce has produced 12.0 points and a team-high 6.2 caroms per game.
MIDSHIPMEN UPDATE: Navy (2-2) enters the contest on a two-game winning streak, with victories at USC-Upstate, 67-55, and versus Goucher, 76-47. Both Navy setbacks occurred at home, as Florida bested the Mids, 59-41, and Charleston produced a 72-58 victory in Annapolis.
Sophomore guard Shawn Anderson leads USNA with 14.8 points per game and is shooting 52.8 percent from the floor. Classmate and forward Jace Hogan averages 11.3 points and a team-high 6.0 rebounds per game. Despite playing Florida, the Mids are outrebounding their foes by 5.5 caroms per contest.
SERIES NOTES: Navy leads the series, 9-5, but UMBC has won four of the last five meetings, dating back to the 2000-01 season. The Retrievers are 3-2 vs. the Mids at the RAC Arena. Two seasons ago, UMBC and Navy played a home-and-home set, with each team triumphing on its home floor. Navy won, 73-58, in Annapolis on Nov. 23, 2013, but the Retrievers responded with a 63-48 victory at the RAC Arena on Dec. 30. Rodney Elliott scored 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting (4-of-5 from behind, the arc) to lead all scorers.
WHO'S UP NEXT: UMBC completes the holiday week by welcoming first-time foe Colgate to the RAC Arena on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 1 p.m.
