Men's Basketball to Open Slate at Wake Forest, St. John's in Opening Round Games of Maui Invitational

The UMBC men's basketball team will open the 2015-16 campaign against national powers Wake Forest and St. John's,  teams that will compete in the Championship Round bracket of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational.

In the Opening Round games of the tournament, UMBC will face Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Friday, Nov. 13 and then face St. John's at Carnesecca Arena on Monday, Nov. 16. Game times will be announced at a later date.

The following weekend, the Retrievers will compete in the Regional Games of the tournament at the University of Northern Colorado, as previously announced. UMBC faces the host UNC Bears at Bank of Colorado Arena on Friday, Nov. 21, before taking on either Austin Peay or Cal Poly a day later.

UMBC has only faced the Red Storm previously and are winless in the two contests (2006, 2011) played in New York.  

Wake Forest is coached by second-year head coach Danny Manning, while Chris Mullin debuts on the sidelines for the Red Storm in 2015-16.
