RETRIEVER UPDATE: UMBC (3-21, 1-10 AE) used a 22-6 run bridging two halves to erase a double-digit deficit and grab a four-point lead over visiting Stony Brook on Wednesday, but the Seawolves answered with a 24-7 surge to take control and prevail, 73-61, at the RAC Arena. Junior post Cody Joyce led UMBC with 24 points, converting a career-high 10 (of 13) free throw attempts. Sophomore wing Will Darley returned after missing 11 games due to injury and contributed 10 points in 21 minutes off the bench. Joyce, the team leader with 13.0 points per game, averages 16.2 points per game in league play and leads America East in scoring. Guard Jourdan Grant needs five assists to become the sixth UMBC DI player to record 100 in his freshman campaign.

UVM blistered UMass Lowell in Burlington on Wednesday, hitting 15-of-21 shots from behind the arc and 66.7 percent overall from the field in a 96-53 victory. Junior post Ethan O'Day hit 9-of-11 shots and led five players in double figures with 21 points. O'Day heads a balanced attack with 11.5 points per outing. Vermont has not permitted a team to score more than 53 points in their last six outings.
