UMBC returns home briefly to entertain the Stony Brook Seawolves on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the RAC Arena. The Retrievers head back out for road contests at Vermont (Feb. 14) and Hartford (Feb. 17) on two separate journeys. RETRIEVER UPDATE: After a solid half at UML to start its recent New England swing, UMBC (3-20, 1-9 AE) struggled through the next three halves and fell to both UMass Lowell (67-51) and New Hampshire (80-46). Cody Joyce led UMBC with 14 points at UNH on Saturday. Joyce, the team leader with 12.6 points per game, averages 15.6 points per game (tied for first with SBU's Jameel Warney) versus America East competition. Freshman guard Jourdan Grant, who is closing in on 100 assists in his maiden season, added 10 points and four helpers vs. the Wildcats.
SEAWOLF UPDATE: A suddenly chilly Stony Brook team (15-10, 6-4) enters the contest at UMBC with a pair of consecutive setbacks for the first time since early December. SBU fell at UNH, 63-48, on Jan. 31 and dropped a 57-48 decision at home to Vermont on Feb. 7. Vermont hit 16-of-22 second half shots to overcome a 14-point halftime deficit. Junior post Jameel Warney, who leads the nation in double-doubles, contributed 14 points and 15 caroms and averages 15.6 ppg and 11.4 rebounds per outing.
