Men's Basketball Ends Fall Semester With Home Affair on Wednesday With Coppin State
UMBC plays its final game before the exam period when they host the Coppin State Eagles on Wed., Dec. 12 at the RAC Arena. The two teams are a combined 1-6 in games decided by six points or less. RETRIEVER UPDATE: Norfolk State, a team which reached the third round of the NCAA Championship a year ago, hit 54 percent from the floor and 9-of-15 from behind the arc and defeated UMBC, 83-66, at Echols Hall in the first meeting between the two schools. SR G Ryan Cook led the visitors with 22 points, scoring 20 or more for the fifth time this season. Cook is second in America East with 17.9 ppg. JR C Brett Roseboro has scored in double figures in five straight games. The Retrievers (2-8) have dropped three straight.
EAGLE UPDATE: JR F Michael Murray scored 18 points, but Marshall rallied from a 12-point deficit to post a 69-63 victory over Coppin State on Saturday. The Eagles (1-8) led for the first 27:35 of the game, but dropped their fourth straight game. Murray leads Coppin with 13.0 ppg, but has dominated the glass with 10.7 caroms per outing. CSU attempts 25.4 treys per game.
WHO'S UP NEXT: UMBC has its longest break of the season as the university enters the exam period on Thurs., Dec. 13. The Retrievers do not return to the court until Sat., Dec. 22 when they travel to Chicago to take on DePaul.
