RETRIEVER UPDATE: Reigning America East Player of the Week Ryan Cook led a balanced effort with 14 points as the Retrievers got the home slate off to a good start with a 70-52 victory over Eastern (Pa.) before 1,719 at the RAC Arena on Nov. 12. The victory was the first for UMBC acting head coach Aki Thomas. Cook is averaging 21.0 ppg and 9.5 rpg in the first two games of the season. A pair of newcomers- Brett Roseboro and Malik Garneradded 10 points apiece for UMBC vs. Eastern.
GREYHOUND UPDATE: The defending MAAC champions (24-9 a year ago) return four starters and are also 1-1, with an opening home victory over America East's Binghamton (71-45) and a setback at Washington (85-63). Junior guard Dylon Cormier, who scored 20 points at UMBC last season, is averaging 20.0 per game in the early going. SR F Erik Etherly had 15 points and eight rebounds in the loss to the Huskies.
