Cambridge, Mass.- UMBC senior guard Ryan Cook (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) was named America East Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games ending Nov. 11, the league office announced.
Cook picked up Player of the Week honors after registering his
second career double-double in the Retrievers' lone game of the
Cook tied his UMBC career high with 28 points and added 11 rebounds in UMBC's 80-75 loss at Penn on Friday. The senior guard shot 10-of-19 from the floor and helped UMBC build a 22-point first-half lead on the Quakers. Cook's double-double, the second of his career, is his second consecutive double-double as he finished the 2011-12 season with 15 points and 10 rebounds vs. Binghamton in the America East tournament last year.
The second-year Retriever and fourth-year collegiate player surpassed the 1,000-point plateau (1,025) in the narrow setback at Penn.
