Men's Basketball vs. Albany Wednesday Evening Will be Played as Scheduled at 7 p.m. in the RAC
UMBC completes the first half of the America East schedule on Wed., Jan. 26 when they host the vastly-improved Albany Great Danes. Fans can catch all the action on Fox 1370 Sports Radio (www.fox1370.com) with Gary Stein and Paul Mittermeier on the call, beginning with the pregame show at 6:55 p.m. The game is also available on www.umbcretrievers.tv.
RETRIEVER UPDATE: UMBC (3-17, 2-5) saw its two-game winning streak halted at UNH on Sunday, as the road-weary Retrievers fell, 80-60. UMBC has played four of its previous five games on the road since Jan. 12. The Retrievers have allowed 71 treys in seven league games to date and have converted only 29 in its five league setbacks. Junior guard Chris De La Rosa (team-high 17.0 ppg, the lone Retriever averaging in double figures) earned league Player of the Week honors last week and is averaging 20.2 points per game in conference play.
DANE UPDATE: Albany occupied the basement of the conference last season, but have already surpassed their league win total and are one of three AEC teams to reach the 10-win mark. The Danes have allowed only 55.6 points per game in America East play. They routed Binghamton, 76-37 on Jan. 20 as sophomore guard Mike Black (12.7 ppg) led a led a balanced effort with 15 points. Senior wing Tim Ambrose leads the squad at 16.1 points per game.
