Men's Basketball Miscellania: Full Schedule, Media Coverage and Other Programming Announced
The UMBC men's basketball team opens its eighth season of America East Conference competition on Sunday, Jan. 2 when they host Stony Brook, one of the league's preseason favorites. The Retrievers and Seawolves.will tip-off at the RAC Arena at 5:00 p.m. That contest is the first of 16 America East clashes for UMBC as the conference recently released its schedule.
For the third consecutive year, all UMBC men's basketball games will be heard live on Fox 1370 Sports Radio and onwww.fox1370.com. Gary Stein, Paul Mittermeier and Troy Green will once again comprise the Retrievers' broadcast team.
Fox 1370 Sports Radio also broadcasts up to ten UMBC women's basketball and UMBC men's lacrosse games and will follow all three teams throughout their respective America East Championships.
After playing five of nine America East contests on the road in January, four of seven February games will be played at the RAC Arena as UMBC's students return to campus.
Pre-season favorite Boston University visits the RAC Arena on the evening of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 17.
UMBC will hold its annual "RAC in Black" Night on Thursday, Feb. 3 when the Retrievers entertain Binghamton at 7:30 p.m. The Retrievers' final regular season home game is set for Saturday, Feb. 19 when UMBC hosts Hartford at 7:00 p.m. UMBC students will celebrate "The Last Growl" before and during the game that evening.
The Retrievers wrap up the regular season in Albany on Wednesday, Feb. 23. The America East Conference Tournament will be held at Hartford's Chase Family Arena for the second consecutive year and play opens on Friday, March 4.
For the fourth consecutive year, fans can watch every home UMBC basketball game onwww.umbcretrievers.tv. All-access passes, at a special discounted rate, will go on sale during the first week of November.
The "Randy Monroe UMBC Basketball Show" can be heard on Fox 1370 Sports Radio andwww.fox1370.com each Thursday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. The first show is scheduled to air on Thursday, Nov. 12. The initial show will emanate from the Skylight Room on the UMBC campus on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 12:30 p.m.; all other shows will be hosted by Gianni's Italian Bistro in Halethorpe at 1:15 p.m. (see below)
The "Randy Monroe Report" with host Drew Forrester returns to WNST, 1570 AM andwww.wnst.net each Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. during the basketball season.
UMBC opens its 25th season of NCAA Division I men's basketball on Sunday, Nov. 14 as the Retrievers host VMI at the RAC Arena. Tip-off time for that matinee is 3:00 p.m.
