2009-10: Competed in the first 27 games of the season and earned 12 consecutive starts before an ankle injury sidelined him for the final three regular season contests… Averaged 2.0 points and 2.7 rebounds per game… Tied for tenth in America East with 0.9 blocked shots per game in league contests… Nov. 18: Recorded four rebounds in 15 minutes vs. Loyola… Dec. 8: Produced his fourth four-rebound effort in the season’s first eight games at Penn State… Dec. 12: Scored six points (3-of-3 fg)?in 21 minutes of action vs. Rider… Dec. 22: Garnered  five rebounds at Virginia Tech on while playing minutes… Jan. 12:  Rewrote his career highs at BostonUniversity… Earned his second career start and posted his first career double-double… Recorded career bests in points (12, previous high 6), rebounds (13, previous high 5), field goals (4), free throws (4), assists (2) and minutes played (35, previous high 24)… Named UMBC’s America East Player of the Game for the first time in his career… Feb. 5: Scored seven points and added five caroms vs. Vermont… Feb. 15: Suffered an ankle injury in practice and did not dress for the final three games of the regular season… March 6: Played just one minute in America East quarterfinals vs. Vermont.  

 
 

2008-09: Appeared in 19 games and made one start for UMBC in his freshman campaign… Saw action in seven of the last eight regular season contests and posted double figures in minutes in his last five regular season appearances.

 

Nov. 15: Corralled four rebounds in his 12-minute UMBC debut vs. Stevenson… Dec. 13: Made his first appearance in seven games with a six-minute stint at Pitt… Dec. 20: Played 17 minutes and recorded his first collegiate field goal vs. American… Started the second half of the game… Jan. 17:  Played a season-high 24 minutes at Vermont on Jan. 17… Feb. 21: Earned his first collegiate start at Rider and matched scored four points and added four rebounds, tying a season high… Feb. 26: Matched that effort with four points at Binghamton… March 1: In the regular season finale, he scored a season-high five points… Converted two field goals in each of his last three games, hitting six of nine attempts overall.   

 

  

Background:  Signed a NLI in the early period of the 2007-08 year… Blossomed in the summer of 2007, earning Most Improved Player honors in the Greater Philadelphia Summer School League, comprised of over 40 public and private school teams… Also named to the Eastern Invitational All-Star team and the Hoop Group All-Star squad… Scored 21 points and added 15 rebounds in a summer league game vs. Simon Gratz… Earned Second Team honors at the Hoop Magic Fall Jamboree after a 16-point, 11-rebound effort in the tournament semifinals… In his first full season as a starter last winter, he averaged 11.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game for the FLC Bobcats… Shot 62 percent from the floor and 82 percent from the free throw line and earned Honorable Mention honors from the PIAA 3A division… Helped the Wildcats to a 16-6 record and a quarterfinal appearance in the 3A district championship last season… His father, John, passed away in 2007… “That made me work harder for my goals”, according to Jake… His father and uncles all competed in baseball, basketball and football in high school… Has three sisters, Jennifer, age 28, Nicole, age 26 and Elizabeth, age 21, and a younger brother Matthew, who is ten years old… His guardians are his uncle Matthew J.
