ROBERT MORRIS NIPS MEN'S BASKETBALL IN OVERTIME

Moon Township, PA--Robert Morris University outscored UMBC, 11-5, in overtime and defeated the Retrievers, 77-71 in a Northeast Conference game. RMU improved to 4-7, 1-1 NEC, while UMBC lost its eighth stragiht game and fell to 3-8, 1-1.
The game was close throughout as RMU led 32-31 at halftime and the contest went to OT tied at 66-all. But the Retrievers hit just 1 of 9 field goals in teh extra session, while RMU hit 2 of 3 from behind the arc and 5 of 6 from the foul line to earn the win.
UMBC was led by junior wing Kareem Washington, who scored 18 points, but fouled out with 2:42 to play in regulation. Freshman P.J. Hatcher added 15 points (5/11 fg, 3/7 3-pt. fg), and Rob Gogerty added 10 points and 6 assists in 40 minutes. UMBC was 25 of 57 from the floor (43.9%) and outrebounded the hosts, 37-27. However, RMU hit 24 of 50 from the floor and extended UMBC's misery from behind the arc, hitting 12 of 27. The Retrievers have allowed 57 three's over the last five games.
