ORAL ROBERTS HANDS MEN'S HOOPS 68-48 SETBACK IN THE CONSOLATION GAME OF THE STATE FARM GOOD NEIGHBOR CLASSIC

Luke Spencer-Gardner scored 21 points and Tyrone Tiggs added 17 points leading Oral Roberts to a 68-48 win over UMBC before 307 at John Kresse Arena in the consolation game of the 2002 State Farm Good Neighbor Classic on Monday.
With the win the Golden Eagles improved to 8-3, while UMBC fell to 3-6. Josh Atkinson's 3-pointer with 9:41 left in the first half helped Oral Roberts jump out to a 17-5 lead. The Retrievers closed the half with a 16-7 run to cut the ORU lead to 24-21 at intermission.
Spencer-Gardner scored eight points in an 11-0 run by ORU to start the second half giving the Golden Eagles a 35-21 lead with 18:09 remaining in the game.
Spencer-Gardner and Tiggs combined for 10 of the Golden Eagles' 16 3-pointers with five each. The 16 treys is the most by ORU versus a Division I opponent and just one shy of the school's all-time mark set twice against Division II schools.
UMBC got 14 points and 10 rebounds from Andrew Feeley, while teammates Kareem Washington and Andre Williams added 12 and 11 points each, respectively.
For the game, ORU hit 44.2 percent (23-52) of its shots from the field, including 57.1 percent from behind the arc (16-28). The Retrievers shot 40.4 percent (19-47) from the field and hit just 18.2 percent (2-11) of their 3-pointers.
