Men's Basketball Faces Host Hartford Hawks in MASN-Televised Game on Thursday Night

    The UMBC Retrievers will try to create a pair of streaks as they take on the Hartford Hawks in West Hartford, Conn. on Thursday, Feb. 11. UMBC will look for its second consecutive road win of the 2009-10 season and its second straight win at the Chase Family Arena. UMBC won at Maine, 56-55, on Jan. 30 of this season and the Retrievers triumphed in Hartford last February, 80-63, after five straight road losses to the Hawks. Tip-off time is set for 7:00 p.m.and will be broadcast regionally by the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN).

    RETRIEVER UPDATE: The Retrievers have dropped two straight games, both at home, by sizable margins to America East contenders Vermont (79-60) and Maine (84-63). UMBC has been blistered, 45-9, in second chance points in the last two games. Guard Chris De La Rosa approached a double-doubles with 10 points and nine helpers on Monday vs. the Black Bears.

    HAWKS’ UPDATE: Hartford has won five of its last eight games, with an average winning margin of 3.0 points per game in those wins. Guard Joe Zeglinski won Saturday’s game at UNH on a long three-pointer at the buzzer. Zeglinski, who leads Hartford with 16.3 points per game, finished with a game-high 17 points, 10 of which came in the final seven minutes, and had eight boards.

    UP NEXT: UMBC returns home on Saturday, Feb. 13, to host the Albany Great Danes. Tip-off time is set for 7:05 p.m. in the 500th men’s basketball game in the RAC Arena.
