Monday Night Hoops: Men's Basketball to Host Maine Black Bears
2/8/2010
For the second time in nine days, the UMBC Retrievers and Maine Black Bears will get together in an America East contest. UMBC snapped an eleven-game slide with a 56-55 win at Maine on Jan. 30. UMBC’s campus is closed, but the game is slated to tip-off at 7:05 p.m. Paul Mittermeier has the call on Fox 1370 Sports Radio, or www.fox1370.com. Video streaming is available at www.umbcretrievers.tv.
RETRIEVER UPDATE: UMBC snapped an 11-game losing streak with last Saturday’s 56-55 victory at Maine. Robbie Jackson’s lay-in with 1.4 seconds remaining gave UMBC its fourth straight win over the Black Bears. Due to the impending blizzard in the region over the weekend, UMBC hosted Vermont 24 hours ahead of schedule on Feb. 5 and fell to the Catamounts, 79-60.
BLACK BEARS’ UPDATE: Maine halted a two-game slide with a 61-49 win over Binghamton in Orono on Saturday, holding the Bearcats to a season-low in scoring. Junior post Sean McNally recorded 15 points and 14 rebounds in the victory. The Black Bears are one of the nation’s leaders in road victories this year with eight.
UP NEXT: UMBC heads to Hartford for a Thursday contest with the Hawks. That game is a part of the America East television package and will be broadcasted regionally by the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network.
