Men's Basketball Supports Coaches vs. Cancer as Retrievers Host Binghamton on Wednesday Evening

In a rematch of the 2009 America East Championship game, the UMBC Retrievers host the Binghamton Bearcats to close UMBC’s three-game homestand on Wednesday evening, Jan. 27. Tip-off time is set for 7:05 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live by Fox 1370 Sports Radio (www.fox1370.com) with Gary Stein and Paul Mittermeier on the call. Live video streaming is available on www.umbcretrievers.tv. UMBC’s coaches will wear sneakers tonight in honor of The Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Awareness weekend, which is a nationwide annual event in which coaches across the country unite for a common cause – fighting cancer!
RETRIEVER UPDATE: Visiting Boston University hit 15 of 23 shots from the floor in the second half and turned back an early second-half rally by UMBC to triumph, 79-61, at the RAC Arena on Sunday. Sophomore guard Chris De La Rosa tried to spark the comeback by scoring 18 points and he leads the America East in assists with 4.9 per game.
BEARCATS’ UPDATE: The defending league champoins come into tonight’s game after a big 73-67 win over Vermont. Forward Greer Wright had 30 points and 10 rebounds vs. the Catamounts and has averaged 22.8 points per game in his last four outings. Binghamton has gone 4-3 in the new year, with one loss occuring at Maine (66-61) in OT and the other by one point at Hartford (64-63).
