Men's Basketball Opens Three-Game Homestand vs. New Hampshire on Thursday
UMBC returns home to take on the New Hampshire Wildcats on Thursday, Jan. 21 and the Retrievers will play seven of its next nine games at the RAC Arena after playing 12 of its last 15 games on the road. Tip-off time is set for 7:05 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live by Fox 1370 Sports Radio (www.fox1370.com) with Gary Stein and Paul Mittermeier on the call. RETRIEVER UPDATE: Despite outshooting its fourth consecutive opponent, a road-weary UMBC (1-17, 0-5 America East) squad dropped its eighth straight contest on Monday, as host Stony Brook defeated the Retrievers, 81-69. Sophomore Chauncey Gilliam scored a career-high 24 points and is averaging 15.2 points per game in conference play. UMBC was outrebounded for the 12th time in the last 13 games (50-28).
WILDCATS’ UPDATE: UNH has dropped five of its last games, including Monday’s 56-42 loss at Monday. Guard Tyrone Conley led the Wildcats with 13 points. Conley averages 11.9 points per game, second on the squad behind junior guard Alvin Abreu, who scores at a 12.8 ppg clip. UNH is 6-1 at home this season and 0-9 on the road.
