MASN To Televise Four Men's Basketball Games During 2009-10 Campaign

10/22/2009

The Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) will televise four UMBC men’s basketball games during the 2009-10 season.

The Retrievers’ broadcast partner will air two games against local rivals from the RAC Arena early in the season.  On Wednesday, Nov. 18, UMBC hosts Loyola, and the following Tuesday, Nov. 24, the Retrievers entertain Coppin State.  Both games will tip-off at 7:30 p.m.  The broadcast team will be announced at a later date.

MASN will also air a pair of games as part of the America East Conference’s television package.  Those contests are at Stony Brook on Monday, Jan. 18 (5:00 p.m.) and at Hartford on Thursday, Feb. 11 (7:00 p.m.).

Because MASN is locally-owned, the network is able to bring more of the game to sports fans across the region. MASN is available to all cable and satellite carriers. Currently you can find MASN on Antietam, Armstrong, Atlantic Broadband, Bay Country, Broadstripe, Charter, Comcast, Cox, DirecTV, Dish, Easton, Giles Craig, HarronMetrocast, KUHN, Mediacom, MI Connections, Ntelos, OpenBand, RCN, Reds Cable, TriCounty Telecom, Verizon, WDCW-TV (Nationals) and WJZ-TV (Orioles).

The biggest college basketball package ever available in the mid-Atlantic region is on all season long on MASN. Available on area cable and satellite distributors' basic tier, MASN televises more than 200 NCAA basketball games and 13 conferences.

UMBC opens America East Conference play on Saturday, Jan. 2 at Vermont and play their first home league contest vs. Hartford on Thursday, Jan. 14. Four of UMBC’s first five America East games are on the road, but five of the next six will be played at the RAC Arena. That home stretch is highlighted by a Saturday, Feb. 6 matinee (3:00 p.m.) vs. Vermont as UMBC celebrates its biennial Athletic Hall of Fame inductions that evening.

The Retrievers complete the home schedule on Tuesday, Feb. 16, when they entertain Stony Brook and wrap up the regular season at New Hampshire on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

The America East Conference Tournament will be held at Hartford’s Chase Family Arena on March 5-7, 2010. The title game will be played at the highest remaining seed on Saturday, March 13 at noon. That game will be televised by ESPN2 as UMBC will attempt to make its third consecutive appearance in the league’s championship game.
