TEXAN P.J. HATCHER SIGNS WITH UMBC

Forward P.J. Hatcher (Lewisville, TX) has accepted a grand-in-aid package and will continue his education at UMBC, it was announced today by Head Basketball Coach Tom Sullivan. Hatcher , a 6'5", 225-lb. forward, was a three-year starter at Lewisville HS (Dallas-Fort Worth area). This past season, he led the team with 17.8 ppg and 7.1 rpg, hitting 47.6% from the field, 77.2% from the free throw line and 36.4% from behind the three-point arc. He was named to the All Region team, as he guided Lewisville to 24 wins and a state playoff appearance. He averaged 15.7 ppg as a junior and 12.8 ppg as a sophomore, earning All District honors in all three seasons. Head Coach Jerry Havens' teams won over 20 games in each of Hatcher's varsity seasons, including an appearance in the Elite Eight in Texas (25 wins) in the 1999-2000 season. "P.J. is the kind of player who will step up in big games," said Havens. "The fans up there will love him-he has an outgoing personality and will do whatever it takes for the team to win basketball games."
