Retriever Men's Basketball: Brian Neller Signs NLOI to Attend UMBC

UMBC Head Men’s Basketball Coach Randy Monroe announced that Brian Neller has signed a national letter-of-intent and will become the fourth freshman on the 2009-2010 Retriever squad.

The sharpshooter averaged 14.2 points per game for the Head Coach Geoff Billet’s Colts (26-3), who captured the Shore Conference Tournament title and the NJSIAA Non-Public South A sectional championship. He also was a
Neller hit 178 three-point field goals in his three-year varsity career, including a season-best 69 in 2008-09.

All three of UMBC’s fall signees had very successful 2008-09 campaigns. Nick Groce averaged 13.6 points per game and 3.6 assists per outing for St. Mary’s. He scored 26 points and hit the game-winning layup in the Saints’ 62-60 win in the MIAA “B” Conference title game at UMBC. Groce earned Second-Team All-Metro honors from The Baltimore Sun and All-County accolades from The Capital Gazette. The comb0-guard scored nine points for the county squad in the county vs. city game of the Charm City Classic.
