2/2/2009
The UMBC Retrievers (9-12, 3-6 America East) and the Boston University Terriers (11-9, 6-2) will meet just 11 days after their double overtime affair staged in Boston on Jan. 22. BU prevailed, 80-77 in UMBC’s longest game since the 2003-04 season. The game can be seen in the region on MASN and is also available on ESPN Full Court with Eric Frede and Frank Sullivan on the call. UMBC’s broadcast can be heard on Fox 1370 Sports. RETRIEVER UPDATE: Despite another solid second half effort, UMBC fell a point short at Stony Brook, falling 56-55 on Saturday. Matt Spadafora tied the game at 55-all on a 3-pt. field goal with 48 seconds left, but SBU hit one of two free throws with 18 ticks remaining. Spadafora’s short bank was a touch strong just before the horn. Darryl Proctor led UMBC with 20 points.
TERRIER UPDATE: Boston University has won five straight games as they complete a three-game road trip at UMBC. After the Jan 22. double overtime win over UMBC, the Terriers have recorded double-digit wins at Maine (73-62) and Hartford (72-47). Wings John Holland (18.0) and Corey Lowe (17.7) are the most productive 1-2 punch in the America East this season. Holland led the way with points vs. the Hawks on Saturday.
Who’s Up Next: UMBC gets to catch its breath a bit, after seven games in 17 days, as they are off until Saturday, when they play at evening contest at Maine.
