Men's Basketball: Former St. John's Guard Ricky Torres to Transfer to UMBC

The 2005 second team All (N.Y.) City honoree competed in 50 games over two seasons for the Red Storm. As a freshman, he averaged 6.9 points per game in the final seven games of the season, including a career-high 12 points vs. DePaul on Feb. 18, 2006. Last season, he posted a season-high 11 points in a 13-minute stint vs.
Torres was a three-year varsity letter-winner at St. Raymond’s High School. He was rated a top 100 prospect by several recruiting publications as he averaged 18.0 points per game as a senior, shooting 43.0 percent from the floor and 39 percent from long range. Torres was a second team all-league selection in the Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) and a second team all-city honoree by the Daily News, New York Post and Newsday.
