Thomas Young Dismissed From UMBC Men's Basketball Team

6/20/2007

Thomas Young has been dismissed from the UMBC men’s basketball team for academic reasons, Head Coach Randy Monroe announced today.

Young, a 6-foot-3 wing, had just completed his sophomore season for the Retrievers and was the team’s second-leading scorer, averaging 9.6 points per game. The Philadelphia, Pa. native competed in 58 games in two seasons.

“Thomas is a wonderful young man who just needs to figure out what direction he would like to pursue,” Coach Monroe said.

Moreover, forward Chris Seaborn and post Chris Timba, also two-year letterwinners of the team, will not compete next season. Seaborn, a 6-foot-7 rising senior who averaged 1.9 points per game in 23 appearances last season, is expected to complete his degree at UMBC. The 6-foot-10 Timba did not see action in any games for UMBC last season and his future plans are unknown.
