Hodges Scores 36 Points as Men's Basketball Outlasts Morgan State, 86-72

The former Bishop McNamara standout came through down the stretch as the Bears continued to fight back in the game. They fought back from a nine-point deficit and tied the game at 62-all on a Timothy Berkley layup with 6:20 remaining. But then Hodges hit a three-pointers on the next two possessions, and after an exchange of baskets, sophomore guard Jay Greene hit a long three to put UMBC ahead, 73-64 with 5:04 remaining. The Bears were unable to get within eight points the rest of the way.
Hodges hit 10 of 18 from the floor, six of nine from long distance and 10 of 12 from the free throw line. The field goals were a career high and the three-point goals and free throws tied his career high.
Greene added 15 points, including three of seven from behind the arc and the America East’s leading assist man added seven helpers. Senior forward Mike Housman also finished in double figures with 10 points and he added a game-high eight rebounds.
The Retrievers hit 16 of 30 shots from the floor in the second half and were 26 of 56 for the game (46.4%). UMBC was 9 of 18 from behind the arc and outrebounded
UMBC won when trailing at halftime for the first time this season.
