UMBC

The UMBC men’s basketball team opens the 2006-07 season this Saturday, November 11 when they travel to Jersey City, N.J. to take on St. Peter’s College in a 2:00 p.m. tip-off at the Yanitelli Center. UMBC has won its last seven season openers, three of which have occurred at home, and two each on the road and on neutral courts. The last time UMBC opened on road was in the 2001-02 at Loyola (76-66 victory)--the last time they opened out-of-state on the road was in 1998-99 and that resulted in their last loss in an opener, a 85-56 setback at Pittsburgh. St. Peter’s has won both of the all-time meetings with UMBC, although the two schools have not met since the 1996-97 season.
