MEN'S BASKETBALL RELEASES 2005-06 SCHEDULE

--The UMBC men’s basketball team will open the 2005-06 season with a Friday, November 18 home game vs. UMES and face LaSalle (November 20), Delaware (December 1) and William & Mary (December 17) as part of its 12-game home slate. The Retrievers open America East Conference play with a Saturday, December 10 home tilt against the Stony Brook Seawolves. That game is part of a December schedule which takes UMBC to; “Elite Eight” participant West Virginia, the state of California for games with San Diego State and Long Beach State, and Richmond, Virginia for a game against the Virginia Cavaliers at Virginia Commonwealth University.   

The Retrievers take on LaSalle, William & Mary, West Virginia and the two West Coast squads for the first time. UMBC Head Coach Randy Monroe spent five seasons at LaSalle (1988-93) as an assistant coach under William “Speedy” Morris.

UMBC also plays at in-state rivals Towson (November 22), Loyola (November 27), and Navy (January 3). The Retrievers defeated all three of those teams at home in the 2004-05 season. All nine America East Conference teams will convene in Vestal, New York for the 2006 America East Tournament on the campus of Binghamton University on March 3. The title game of the tournament will take place at the highest remaining seed on March 11.

21 of UMBC’s 27 regular season home games will be broadcast by WLG (1370 AM) and all games will be available via the UMBC website of www.umbcretrievers.com.
