R.C. KEHOE NAMED ASSISTANT MEN'S BASKETBALL COACH
Baltimore, MD--R.C. Kehoe has been named Assistant Menís Basketball Coach at UMBC, it was announced today by Head Menís Basketball Coach Randy Monroe. Kehoe replaces John Schaller, who resigned to pursue other professional career opportunities.
Kehoe entered the Division I ranks as an assistant coach last year, when he joined Bobby Jonesí staff at St. Francis University of Pennsylvania and helped the Red Flash to a record of 15-13 in the 2004-05 campaign. Prior to that, the native of Philadelphia served as assistant coach at Shippensburg (Pa.) University for the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons.
Kehoe completed his B.A. degree in Speech Communication from Shippensburg, after competing at the collegiate level for Clarion (Pa.) University (1997-99) and East Stroudsburg (Pa.) University. (1999-2001). The former point guard led Clarion in assists and steals in each of his two seasons. At East Stroudsburg, he broke the school record for three-point field goals in a season (66) and served as the team captain. Kehoe attended Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, the same school as Coach Monroe, and was a part of nationally-ranked teams in all four of his seasons as a member of the varsity.
Kehoe is the nephew of St. Josephís University Head Menís Basketball Coach Phil Martelli.
