Head Coach Randy Monroe's Retrievers have won three-straight games.

Rob Gogerty with 16 points led the Retrievers to a 71-57 victory over Maine.

, Maine -  The UMBC Men’s Basketball team (9-9, 4-5 AE) extended their win streak to three-straight games with a 71-57 victory over the University of Maine (9-9, 4-5 AE) in America East men’s basketball action on Thursday night at Alfond Arena.  UMBC placed three players in double digits en route to the 14-point conference victory.

The Retrievers ran out to a 31-25 lead at halftime but saw the Black Bears go on surge in the early parts of the second half that eventually gave the host school the lead.

The Retrievers, however, responded as freshman Brian Hodges (Upper Marlboro, Md./Bishop McNamara), who hit the Retrievers three-point game winning shot with 1.2 seconds left  to beat Binghamton last Saturday night, hit his second big three-point basket in as many games with a trey to break a 39-39 tie as UMBC would never trail again in the game.

Strong three-point shooting (7-of-13 from outside the arc) and taking advantage of 21 turnovers in the game by the Black Bears allowed the Retrievers to pull away down the stretch and capture the 71-57 victory.

Rob Gogerty (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) led the Retrievers with 16 points and seven assists while Cory McJimson (San Bernadino, CA/Eisenhower) scored 14 points, 10 in the first half.  Andrew Feeley (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) finished as the third player in double-digits for UMBC with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Hodges and John Zito (Windsor, CT/St. Thomas More Prep) each scored nine points with Hodges connecting on three of UMBC’s total seven three-point baskets.

The Retrievers will put their three-game win streak on the line when they travel to New Hampshire on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m.
