UMBC MEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS TO UMES, 69-62

The UMBC Men’s Basketball team (1-3) lost a 69-62 decision to The University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday night. Andrew Feeley finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds for his second consecutive double-double.
The Retrievers shot 6-of-26 in the first half and fell behind by as many as 12 as UMES jumped out to a 23-11 lead. The Retrievers closed the gap to six at 28-22 at the break despite being out rebounded 30-12 in the first period.
UMBC opened the second half with an 8-0 run capped off by a Chris Pugh jumper, taking a 30-28 lead. UMBC’s two-point advantage was their only lead of the game as UMES retaliated with an 8-0 run over their own to take a 36-30 advantage with 15-42 play as the Hawks never trailed again in the game.
UMBC closed the gap down the stretch to four points as Cory McJimson recorded two free throws and by a 5-0 run by the Hawks paced UMES back to a nine-point lead with 2:06 to play.
McJimson finished with 18-points, 15 of those points in the second half. UMBC shot 34 percent for the game and was out rebounded 53-32.
The Retrievers return to action at home against
