MEN'S BASKETBALL OPENS THREE-GAME HOMESTAND VS. HARTFORD ON SATURDAY

The UMBC men's basketball team (4-8, 1-2 America East) opens a three-game homestand vs. America East rival Hartford (4-6, 0-2) on Saturday, January 10 at 7pm at the RAC Arena. UMBC will entertain Boston University on Wednesday, January 14 and Northeastern on Saturday, January 17. All games tip-off at 7pm.
Although they have faced a tough home slate, the Retrievers are still in search of their first home victory of the year, as they are 0-3 at the RAC to date. UMBC's worst home start is an 0-5 opening to the 1995-96 campaign. Overall, UMBC has dropped five of its last six, with two straight single digit losses (Vermont, 67-66, Stony Brook, 61-56) occuring in the past six days.
Randallstown native and Lake Clifton HS graduate Aaron Cook is second on the Hawks in scoring, a as the 6'2" sophomore guard tallies 13.4 points per game. UMBC guard Kareem Washington, who is averaging 18.7 ppg in three league games, is closing in on 1,000 career points, with 952 to date.
